AMD Ryzen 7000 CPU on sale from September 2022 – All specs detail

AMD planned to launch Ryzen 7000 CPU by September and Ryzen 7950X could hit 5.7 GHz

AMD has planned to launch the 5 nm Ryzen 7000 CPU later this Quarter (Q3,2022). Lisa Su, an AMD CEO, confirmed this information during the Q2,2022 earning calls. Su also said that the RDNA3 GPUs will come later this year.

According to Wccftech, the product announcement date is 29 August and will be available from 15 September. However, we still don’t have the official dates from AMD.

AMD Ryzen 7000 CPU Specs

The Ryzen 7000 series, code-named “Rafale”, is the Zen 4 microarchitecture CPU built on TSMC 5nm process node. It supports new DDR5 RAM and PCIe 5.0 lanes. For some reason, AMD isn’t adding DDR4 RAM support like Intel did with the 12th gen Alder Lake. The new CPUs will use the AM5 platform with socket LGA 1718.

As rumour suggests, Ryzen 7000 CPUs have significantly more L2 cache memory than Ryzen 5000. Also, they have a higher TDP of up to 170W. The overall core counts of the CPUs are the same as before.

As reported by Videocardz, AMD itself leaked its Ryzen 7000 CPU SKUs. Four leaked models are –

  1. Ryzen 9 7950X
  2. Ryzen 9 7900X
  3. Ryzen 7 7700X
  4. Ryzen 5 7600X

The top-of-the-line Ryzen 9 7950X has 16-cores and 32-threads with a max boost clock of 5.7 GHz and TDP of 170W. Ryzen 9 7900X is a 12-cores and 24-threads CPU with a max boost clock of 5.6 GHz and 170W TDP. This time rumoured base clock of the CPUs is very high, which is 4.5 GHz for 7950X and 4.7 GHz for 7900X

The most favourite six-core gaming part is Ryzen 5 7600X, which has 6-cores and 12-threads that can boost up to 5.3 GHz. The base clock and TDP of the CPU are 4.7 GHz and 105W.

Lastly, the Ryzen 7 7700X has the usual 8-cores/16-threads setup with a max boost clock of 5.4 GHz/Base clock of 4.5 GHz and a 105W TDP. You might be wondering about “where is Ryzen 7 7800X”. But there is no clear information on it.

Possibly, the Ryzen 7 7800X will be featured as 3D V-cache SKU. Earlier AMD said that they are optimistic about 3D V-cache technology, and the upcoming Zen 4 will support it. So, AMD may have reserved the Ryzen 7 7800X3D for later.
