There is a strong rumour about the performance of the upcoming RTX 40 series ADA Lovelace GPUs. A trusted Twitter leaker Kopite7Kimi disclosed some performance details of the full AD104 GPU die. Probably, the RTX 4070 Ti will use the full-fledged AD104 die.
So, the leaker says that the full AD104 GPU SKU (RTX 4070 Ti) would give RTX 3090 Ti’s level of performance with a whopping 400 W power consumption. Moreover, the SKU has 12 GB of GDDR6X memory at 21 Gbps memory speed.
The performance comparison between RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 3090 Ti is impressive as the 3090 Ti launch MSRP was $1999 (approx ₹1,87,000). And generally, the RTX XX70 series card MSRP is between $500 – $600 (approx ₹47,000 – ₹56,000). However, we may see a price hike in upcoming cards due to inflation, shortages, demand, etc.
Although Nvidia is using TSMC 5nm for its new RTX 4000 Ada Lovelace GPU, the power consumption across all SKUs is very high. For reference, RTX 3090 Ti’s total graphics card power is 450W, whereas RTX 4070 Ti’s reported having 400W.
Curious about what cooling system we would get with high power consumption cards. Also, PC builders must add a higher wattage PSU to power the entire system.
