AMD refreshed their few 3rd Gen Ryzen CPUs with a different “XT” extension for the first time. The new XT-Series in Ryzen 9, Ryzen 7, and Ryzen 5 are basically the same CPU with little performance enhancements. Ryzen 3000XT CPUs are may be the answer to the Intel Cometlake-S CPUs which were launched recently. The XT branding is generally found in AMD’s “Radeon XT” GPU which is now coming to processors too.
AMD Ryzen 3000 XT CPUs have the same physical and logical designs with the same 7nm process, Zen 2 architecture, number of core, cache. The difference is in the frequency delivery, new XT Ryzens are 100 to 200 MHz faster single-core turbo. AMD Ryzen 3000 processors have already gained a good market and this new XT variant may add more advantages. According to AMD, enthusiast getting more choice than ever before with Ryzen 3000XT.
Models | Cores / Threads | Frequency Base/Boost | L3 Cache | TDP |
---|---|---|---|---|
Ryzen 9 3900XT | 12 / 24 | 3.8 / 4.7 GHz | 64MB | 105W |
Ryzen 9 3900X | 12 / 24 | 3.8 / 4.6 GHz | 64MB | 105W |
Ryzen 7 3800XT | 8 / 16 | 3.9 / 4.7 GHz | 32MB | 105W |
Ryzen 7 3800X | 8 / 16 | 3.9 / 4.5 GHz | 32MB | 105W |
Ryzen 5 3600XT | 6 /12 | 3.8 / 4.5 GHz | 32MB | 95W |
Ryzen 5 3600X | 6 /12 | 3.8 / 4.4 GHz | 32MB | 95W |
The AMD Ryzen 9 3900XT offers:
- Up to 4% increase in single-threaded performance over AMD Ryzen 3000 desktop processors
- Up to 40% more power efficiency than the competition
The XT series processors come with the same base frequency as their X series parts but have the extra boost frequency. The 3900XT has 100 MHz, 3800XT has 200 MHz, and 3600XT has 100 Mhz extra turbo. AMD only guarantees these boost frequencies in single-core. Extra 100-200 MHz will improve the single and multi-thread score but proper cooling and power delivery required. The new 3000XT processors are compatible with the existing AM4 motherboard, required for the current 3000 series processors.
No cooler included
AMD generally provides the stock cooler in approx all the processors except few high ends. AMD’s Ryzen 9 3900XT and Ryzen 7 3800XT include no cooler whereas Ryzen 5 3600XT includes a Wraith Spire cooler. The 3900XT, 3800XT, and 3600XT processors engineered for enthusiasts who regularly choose aftermarket cooling for the highest possible performance. AMD is recommending to use an AIO solution with a minimum 280mm radiator or equivalent air cooling to experience these products at their best. There is a list of the recommended cooler from AMD to maximize the potential of their processors.
AMD B550 Chipset motherboard is now worldwide available, the first mainstream chipset with support for PCIe 4.0. Available in a variety of motherboard form factors, the AMD B550 chipset is perfect for high-speed performance in both gaming and multitasking. Additionally, AMD announced the A520 chipset for socket AM4 and 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen desktop processors. A520 Chipset motherboards are expected to be available in August 2020.
AMD Ryzen 3000XT processors are expected to be available from July 7, 2020, worldwide. AMD dropped the Price of the existing 3000 series processors in the International market but no big changes in the Indian market. The International price of XT processors are the same as their respective X variant launch price.
AMD StoreMI Ver 2.0
AMD StoreMI technology has been reimagined for 2020 and beyond with an all-new interface and new features. Highlights of the 2.0 version include a new caching-based acceleration algorithm that enhances data integrity and prioritizes most-used data, speeding up boot times by up to 31% and decreasing game load times by up to 13% vs an HDD only. With its intelligent design and streamlined interface, AMD StoreMI is ideal for achieving SSD level speed with HDD level capacity.
